Tree is dedicated to creating a more sustainable future by developing and licensing advanced clean technologies in electricity storage, CO2 refrigeration, and carbon capture and sequestration.

Our Values

Sustainability: Striding towards a greener, more sustainable tomorrow, to ensure a livable planet for future generations.

Collaboration: Partnering with academic and industrial stakeholders for a greater impact and reach.

Integrity: Upholding transparency and ethics in all our operations.

Innovation: Pioneering next-gen sustainable solutions to climate change and carbon mitigation

The Role

We are looking for an experienced ‘Technology Lead - Clean Energy Systems’ to join our team. This role requires deep expertise in thermodynamic modelling for large and complex systems, particularly in relation to refrigeration cycles, reverse Brayton cycles and system design. The role will also need to consider the combination of complex cycles to achieve carbon capture from a variety of sources from primary energy production, marine and shipping, concrete production and DAC. Proficiency in system modelling using tools such as Modelica and Python is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Thermodynamic Modeling and System Design: Lead the development and optimisation of advanced thermodynamic models for our clean technology solutions. This includes detailed system design and analysis for refrigeration cycles, carbon capture cycles, and expansion energy recovery systems. Utilise tools such as Modelica and Python to simulate and refine these models.

Research and Development (R&D): Conduct cutting-edge research to advance our carbon capture, AirBattery, and energy-efficient refrigeration technologies. Stay abreast of the latest scientific developments and integrate new findings into our R&D efforts.

Technology Application: Engage and explore the potential use cases and application of our technology. Build digital twins of the proposed systems to analyse thermodynamic performance.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with academic and industrial partners to enhance our technological impact and reach. Collaborate with R&D teams to translate scientific discoveries into practical applications and commercial products.

Technical Pre-Sales Support: Participate in the technical elements of pre-sales activities. Engage with large organisations (primary energy producers, ship owners, concrete producers etc) to understand their requirements and demonstrate the suitability of our technology for their operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in thermodynamic modelling and system design with a doctorate in an associated discipline.

  • Proficiency in Modelica, Python, and other relevant modelling tools.

  • Proven track record in R&D, with demonstrated experience in leading research projects and developing innovative technologies.

  • Experience in primary energy production systems and carbon dioxide management.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients and stakeholders.
